After the COURAGE Trial: The Era of CVD Prevention

The treatment of CHD has evolved from CABG to PCI and finally, after much delay, to Prevention. Prevention has few supporters and many detractors. Like it or not, Prevention is here and it is a major advancement in cardiac care.

The usual history of CHD is one of plaque progression and plaque rupture causing a series of CV events during the lifetime of a typical patient. These events are now considered largely preventable.
